Recording Sessions and Home Life

My Dear Readers,

Sara and I are currently in production. We are excited to share with our fans the updated sound of Shanti Shanti. I spent the day in the studio recording. We are doing a remake of the Ganesh Upanishad. It has a very cool beat to it, as well as all the authentic chanting that our fans enjoy.

I have spent so much time these last few weeks at my sister and her husband's home that I am feeling rather cozy in our new grown-up lives. We fit time in for business and recording and still keep our husbands and our folks happy. I am attaching a picture of Sara and John's wedding. I waited 'til now only cause she just finally gave me a picture to post.

I expect to spend the rest of the spring and probably the summer in production as I am not seeing any attractive concert opportunities. During this quiet time we are spending it meditating, studying and recording new music. The spiritual venues will pop up, and we will book events when that happens.

Shanti Shanti Growth

My Dear Readers,

I am sorry for the long delay since my last post. I only feel the need to write if I have something of interest to share. This year has mostly been about adjustment, but it would seem that now there are things to talk about. I am hoping to be better about posting and thus fill everyone in on what is going on.

My sister and I are adjusting to our new lives. It has been a wonderfully stabilizing experience leaving more strength and energy to create. Both of our husbands have purchased for us brand new recording studios for our homes. Yes, we know, we are spoiled. :-) But its very cool, indeed!! Between the two of us, we have more recording equipment than we know what to do with.

This freedom has been great! We can record more often and really discover any creative impulse. We have been singing, chanting and producing music steadily, and are looking forward to sharing it with the public very soon. A couple of days out of each week we collaborate and share what we have been working on. Then we record tracks at Sara's studio or at mine. This is a welcomed and exciting experience for us. We are looking forward to sharing the new creativity behind Shanti Shanti.

Yes, It Is True!

My Dear Readers,
I have been hearing so many rumours about Shanti Shanti that I would like to take this opportunity to share with you what the Shanti Sisters have been up to. I am going to attempt to keep everyone posted on the changes using this blog. We will see how well I do.

However, I must share that I got married on May 8th! Shanti Shanti slowed down because of the general up-heaval of this huge change. Not only was the wedding big, but I moved in with my husband and spent the summer learning this new role. It has been really fun and very rejuvenating to my spirit. I am now settled and am ready to get back to work. There is even more change to come! In addition, Sara, my sister, got married last week, and the music is getting ready to shift too! However, I want to save all of those stories for up-coming blogs.

I will share details of our weddings and the musical changes soon! Thank you for being patient.

All Chant CD

My Dear Reader,

We have finally come out with an all Sanskrit Chant CD titled VEDA. We are very pleased to share with the public this authentic collection of ancient, spiritual poetry. During this stressful time a CD like this is very powerful in that it decreases the listeners stress level and create clarity of mind, so as to help make good decisions.

My sister and I fell in love with the overwhelming stillness, exuberance and amplified sensory awareness that we felt when we heard and worked on Sanskrit. In this new album we share that experience with you. The depicted pure tones and cadences that count outside of time and cause the mind to pause, allowing you to feel the intense presence that we originally fell in love with. We always pay particular attention to the precision and accuracy to give you the most potent experience.

We hope you enjoy this musical and spiritual expression.

My Mother

My Dear Reader,

Last night we did a lovely performance in Sacramento at Christ Unity Church and it was enjoyable. The audience was resonating at a high level and we performed well. Things were a bit chancy, in that we are in the process of adding new material and were trying out some of it for the first time. Luckily it came off beautifully and I am so pleased to get to share our music and story.

Our mother, Linda Forman was not able to join us last night in that her health has been rather delicate since we went through the whole carbon monoxide ordeal. Since she wasn't there to share our story my dad simply shared with the audience how my sister and I spontaneously were able to read, write and chant Sanskrit when we were 9 and 7. While he did a good job of this, I must say that it was not the same with out her there. I remember a time when she joined us on most every Shanti Shanti performance, and while sometimes she would even speak on stage, it was wonderful having her presence there. I truly miss that! However, in gratitude I am happy that we are all here together and able to continue sharing our message and experience this eminent rise in consciousness.

Give thanks to our mothers during this lovely May month. They are representative of the divine creating presence in the universe and they ultimately are the reason we are here.

Music for Pope Benedict's visit

My Dear Reader,

I must confess that I was not all that pleased with the music that was shared for the Holy Father during his visit to the U.S. Some of it was pretty, I am thinking in particular of the Panis Angelicus and a few other selections performed in Washington, last week. However, the vast majority of the music performed sounded tired. There is so much talent here that I feel that we could have wowed the Pope with much more impressive music than what was presented.

I must share, that I do think that our music would have been a wonderful addition. The music of Shanti Shanti is both multicultural and yet universal and Catholic in nature. It would have been a pleasing presentation.

I was impressed with his kindness and outreach toward the concerned people of the US. He made us proud to be Catholic during this time of personal and economic strife.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a guru to the Beatles Dies February 5th

Maharishi's work brought about a cultural and spiritual change that is still influencing the world today. He introduced meditation and eastern philosophy to the western cultural, which continues to create a platform for spiritual growth that is both progressive and universal.
Our family has been practicing TM for thirty years and we attribute the open reception of our Sanskrit chanting to the legacy that has been developed before us. Maharishi helped raise world consciousness and thus made Shanti Shanti's music more receptive to the general public.

Our prayers are for him today in gratitude and respect.

The New Year

My Dear Reader,
This is my first day home after spending a week at a Monastery. I was in San Francisco at a wonderful and serene place called Mercy Center. I felt a few days of quiet contemplation and prayer were the best way to ring in the New Year. The funny thing is, that I wasn't the only one to feel this way. After a bit of solitude, I met several others there and wonderful conversations flowed about the general experiences of confusion and frustration that are effecting many of us at this time. It seems that many Spiritual people are sensing a heaviness or darkness, not only in their own lives, but in society as a whole.

I must tell you, dear reader, that the clarity and joy that I experienced, as I stepped out of the world for a little bit and focused on my own illumination, is indescribable. I felt and still feel as if I were falling in love! What a joyous rush and I am blessed to get to experience it again and again. Know that the MOST important thing you can do during this time of challenge is to deepen your experience of the divine. It is the only thing that remains as this world transitions from one phase to another.

The DVD Is Finally Here!!

We are in a time of multimedia expression and I think Shanti Shanti is finally catching up. It is about time! I am very proud of our new high-definition DVD. It shares an insight to our concerts and some of the discussions regarding Sanskrit. Be sure and check it out!!
